A long time ago, we listen music on the radio and then later music are recorded by cassette tapes. However, now is all about MP3s and legally download music. People listen to music on ipod and phone. Internet did help the development of music. People can buy and download songs legally from many websites. For example:- iTunes Store : users use their Apple account to purchase and download any music (It offers more than 28,000,000 songs in 2012) and video via apple website or iTunes apps.
- Amazon : it is the world's largest online retailer which also allow people to purchase albums and ship to their country or download mp3 online.
Web 2.0 As a channel
It is now the world of Web 2.0 which is generated by the users. It is easy to use Web 2.0 as a media channel to get people to know their music. Examples include:- Facebook : social networking website, where musicians create fans pages composed of their music, video, photos and texts. This allow fans to "liked" their pages and check the updated on their feeds.
- Twitter : microblogging website, where celebrities create official accounts that post their daily life status and photos. Fans can follow their accounts and talk about their favourite celebrities with other people.
- Youtube : the biggest video sharing website, where musicians upload their music video via their official channel (VEVO). Fans can subscribed their channel to keep update when will they upload their music video.

buy their music. It increases the sales of their albums.
Besides, for those interested in making their own music and want to shared with people, Youtube is really a good way to make them famous. For example: Tiffany Alvord who usually uploads "cover music" video on Youtube and publish her own albums on iTunes. Therefore, web 2.0 provides a channel to promote and increase sales of music.
